High-vote services get prioritized for outreach
Xbox Live is blocked in Syria. The Xbox app returns a geo-restriction page ("Sorry, this game or app isn't available in your country"), most recently confirmed by community testing in July 2026. Microsoft's Export Controls team acknowledged our February 2026 outreach, opened a case, and put it under internal review; no resolution has followed since.

You can help change this. Syria's political situation has changed—all sanctions have been lifted. Many companies just haven't updated their policies yet. If you work at Xbox Live or know someone who does, share our resources with their legal or compliance team. Sometimes all it takes is one person asking the right question.
Tips for advocating: Reach out to legal, compliance, or policy teams. Reference the lifted sanctions. Point to competitors who have already unblocked Syria. Every voice matters.
