High-vote services get prioritized for outreach
Partially blocked in Syria. Reported fully blocked in February 2026, the website later became reachable but Syria was missing from the account-registration country list, lowering the status to limited. Community volunteers contacted the publisher in March 2026, and the team raised the case with the parent company at corporate level the same month. Contacted Company
Official outreach email sent from corporateaffairs@unblocksyria.com to eccn@microsoft.com. Activision Blizzard was explicitly named alongside LinkedIn as a Microsoft product with Syria restrictions requiring review. The email argued for a single corporate-level compliance review.
You can help change this. Syria's political situation has changed—all sanctions have been lifted. Many companies just haven't updated their policies yet. If you work at Activision Blizzard or know someone who does, share our resources with their legal or compliance team. Sometimes all it takes is one person asking the right question.
Tips for advocating: Reach out to legal, compliance, or policy teams. Reference the lifted sanctions. Point to competitors who have already unblocked Syria. Every voice matters.
