Stripe said Syria remains unsupported, that it could confirm no change and no timeline for a policy review, and that country availability turns on banking-partner support and expansion strategy as well as sanctions.

The volunteer replied that they hold no Stripe account and that the request concerns Stripe's general availability in Syria, asking for it to reach the legal, compliance or regional availability team.

Stripe again asked for an existing account ID before it would review, six months after the same request was answered. A volunteer forwarded the exchange to Unblock Syria.

Stripe Support accepted that the request concerned Syria's status as a supported region rather than one account, and said the case had been moved to a specialised team who would make contact. No position was taken on the restriction and no timeline was given.

A community volunteer wrote to Stripe with Unblock Syria copied, citing the 24 August 2026 rescission of Syria's state sponsor of terrorism designation, and asked which regulation the restriction now rests on.

Stripe replied that it remains unavailable in Syria, that it could give no timeline for a policy change, and suggested opening an account through an entity in a supported country. It said compliance reviews continue.

Unblock Syria followed up, explaining that Stripe Atlas addresses company formation rather than platform access, and noting that Mastercard, Visa, Google Pay and Revolut had all moved on Syria since February.

A community volunteer emailed Stripe's support and notices addresses requesting that service access be enabled for Syria, attaching the published record of the sanctions changes.

Stripe routed the volunteer's request to its sales team and asked for a business model, website, phone number and expected processing volume, rather than reviewing the country restriction.

A community volunteer wrote to Stripe Support on their own initiative asking that access be enabled for users in Syria, citing the lifting of US and EU sanctions, and forwarded the exchange to Unblock Syria.

Stripe replied the same evening that there were no updates for Syria, that its internal teams were working to extend support to the country, and asked whether Stripe Atlas would meet the need instead.

Unblock Syria replied that the request concerns no individual account but Stripe's country-level IP block, and asked for the case to be escalated to legal or compliance for a policy review.

Stripe Support asked for an account email, business name and company representative before it would review, treating a country-wide restriction as if it were a single blocked account.

Stripe Support acknowledged the request the next morning and said it had passed it to a colleague better placed to handle country-level access.

Unblock Syria wrote to Stripe's notices and legal addresses asking for a review of the country-level IP restriction on Syria, citing Executive Order 14312, OFAC's removal of 31 CFR Part 542, and BIS License Exception SPP.
