After five months with no reply, the volunteer escalated the request to Weather.com's general and international support teams, copying the legal contact, the ethics address and the general counsel, with supporting documentation attached.

Further reminders sent on 1 and 13 April asking for an update went unanswered.

The volunteer pushed back on the decline, questioning whether the restriction reflects policy rather than genuine infrastructure limits, noting that Syrian weather data is already shown on the platform.

Weather.com's legal team declined the request: Syria's State Sponsor of Terrorism designation remains in effect, its cloud infrastructure provider has not fully enabled service there, and regional infrastructure is affected by the ongoing conflict.

The volunteer sent Weather.com a spreadsheet of over 1.3 million Syrian IP addresses across 202 ranges, as requested, for the company's compliance team to evaluate.

Weather.com's support team replied that the company is reassessing its geolocation and IP-based access policy for Syrian users in coordination with its compliance and legal teams, and asked for representative Syrian IP ranges to evaluate.

A community volunteer emailed several Weather.com addresses — ethics, general counsel, security, international and general support — requesting a review of the Syria block, citing the lifted US and EU sanctions.
