Emirates NBD customer support replied to the volunteer's September request in one line, saying that due to rules and regulations it cannot do that, without naming any specific rule.

Emirates NBD answered a second volunteer with the same position: access to its online services and website from certain locations, including Syria, is restricted under internal bank policy and its risk framework, with standards kept under review.

A volunteer wrote to Emirates NBD's customer support address again, asking it to reassess the blanket block on Syrian IP addresses and noting that it also cuts off UAE-resident customers who travel to Syria temporarily.

A second community volunteer emailed Emirates NBD's customer support address asking it to review the block on Syrian users, noting the removal of Syria from the US state sponsors of terrorism list in August 2026 and that remaining measures target named individuals.

The volunteer clarified that no access to any customer record is needed, since the request concerns the public website rather than an account, and asked again that it reach a team able to review the geo-block as policy.

The bank replied with its standard guidance that account-specific queries must go through secure channels, directing the request to online banking, the mobile app or the contact centre. It did not address the policy question about the public-website geo-block.

The volunteer pressed the point that no current legal or regulatory requirement had been named for a blanket Syria block on the public website, and asked for the question to be escalated to compliance, legal, risk or digital security for a fresh review.

Emirates NBD said access to its online services and website from certain locations including Syria is restricted in accordance with its internal bank policy and risk management framework, and that it acknowledged the regulatory updates but keeps its standards under continuous review.

A community volunteer asked Emirates NBD to review the country-level block on its public website from Syrian IP addresses, noting that banking services would keep every normal control, and that the request concerned only access to the public site.
