The email cited the December 2025 U.S. Treasury announcement lifting the comprehensive trade embargo on Syria, Syria's removal from OFAC's embargoed countries list, the parallel EU sanctions lift, and supporting documentation from unblocksyria.com/resources. This is the first recorded outreach to VMware/Broadcom.
- 2026-04-29 — Verified. Community testing on Tarassul and MTN ISPs confirmed that VMware (Broadcom) remains partially blocked in Syria. The main vmware.com product pages — including the Fusion and Workstation desktop hypervisor page — load normally. However, attempting to download products like VMware Workstation redirects to support.broadcom.com, which returns a Cloudflare WAF block page «Sorry, you have been blocked.
