## About

Tuya's smart home app for pairing and controlling lights, plugs, cameras and appliances from many brands, with automations and voice assistant links

## Activity summary

Access from Syria is not yet recorded. In October 2026 a community volunteer asked Tuya to review its Syria restrictions; Tuya logged the request as a suggestion with no timeline, and the volunteer asked for a compliance review.

## Progress timeline

- 2026-10-20 — Follow-up Sent (Community Updates). The volunteer replied that this was a compliance request, not a feature suggestion, and asked Tuya to escalate it to its legal and product-access teams, state whether Syria restrictions apply and on what basis, and give a timeframe for review.
- 2026-10-19 — Company Responded (Community Updates). Tuya's global service center replied that it had recorded the request as a suggestion and passed it to the relevant team, but could not confirm whether or when it would be implemented.
- 2026-10-18 — Contacted Company (Community Updates). A community volunteer asked Tuya's support and compliance team to review its Syria restrictions on Tuya Smart and Smart Life, including account registration, device activation, cloud connectivity and smart-home integrations, and to name any rule that requires them.

## Context

These are geo-restrictions the companies applied themselves, not filtering by Syrian ISPs and not a legal requirement. US and EU sanctions on Syria were lifted in 2025. See https://unblocksyria.com/llms.txt for the regulatory summary and https://unblocksyria.com/en/about for citations to the specific orders and regulations.
