The message said the company is continuing to work through the appropriate next steps internally and will share an update as soon as there is more clarity, and thanked the sender for their patience. No timeline or outcome was given, but the check-in was sent without being asked for, indicating the request has not been closed and remains with the company's reviewers.
- 2026-08-26 — Company Responded. Retell AI replied within nine minutes through a member of its business operations team. The reply confirmed that Retell currently restricts access involving Syria on the platform, and said that support cannot override the restriction or state its legal basis without a legal and compliance review. It committed to routing the request, including the regulatory points and the resource link provided, to the appropriate legal and compliance reviewers, and said that if the policy remains unchanged after that review the regulatory basis should come from that team rather than from support. The reply came from a named person rather than an automated system.
- 2026-08-26 — Contacted Company. A community volunteer emailed Retell AI's support team at support@retellai.com asking the company to review its country restriction on Syria. The email set out the regulatory position for the company's legal and compliance teams: Syria's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism was rescinded on 24 August 2026, the Caesar Act was repealed on 18 December 2025, the United States sanctions programme was terminated by Executive Order 14312 with the Syrian Sanctions Regulations removed from the Code of Federal Regulations, and the European Union lifted its economic sanctions on 28 May 2025. It also noted that License Exception SPP authorises the export to Syria of items designated EAR99, which covers most commercial software, and asked which regulation the restriction rests on if it remains in place after review. This is the first recorded outreach to Retell AI.

Accessing retellai.com from a Syrian IP returns a «Sorry, you have been blocked» security page stating the visitor is unable to access cdn.webflow.com, indicating a WAF block on the Webflow-hosted site.
