- 2026-03-15 — Investigated. Thorough community investigation of Maven Central's accessibility from Syria. The Maven Central portal (central.sonatype.com) loads and is browsable. CLI access works — Maven packages download successfully from repo.maven.apache.org via mvn commands. The Maven Central API also works once authenticated. However, account-related features are blocked: clicking Sign In returns an "Access Denied" error from identity.sonatype.com (IP 46.57.200.165), and the onboarding page at guide.sonatype.com returns an explicit embargo block: {"error": "Banned", "message": "Requests from your IP address have been identified as originating from an embargoed country"}. Account creation requires a VPN. The HeroDevs partner page (herodevs.com) is separately blocked by Cloudflare WAF on cdn.webflow.com. Status updated from unknown to restricted.
