- 2026-03-28 — Verified. Community testing confirmed that Kraken is restricted in Syria. Users can sign up with Syria selected as country of residence, but account verification fails immediately after registration (error modal) and later via settings where the Verification section fails to load. Without verification, deposits and trading are unavailable ("No results found"), and the verification prompt only appears when using a VPN. The Kraken Pro (VIP) version is also inaccessible: Syria is not listed in the country dropdown, and using another country with a Syrian phone number fails. Kraken+ membership cannot be joined due to the same verification block, and adding a payment method only works with a VPN. These limitations are consistent on Android (mobile app shows "Funds are deposited — Available after verification" but verification is blocked). On the Ubuntu desktop app, signing in triggers "There is an issue with your account" with a trace ID error, which only resolves when using a VPN.
