- 2026-06-22 — Investigated. Community testing found that GitHub Copilot is partially restricted in Syria. The extension itself works in VS Code and IntelliJ, and Gemini and GPT models are available, but Anthropic Claude models (Haiku 4.5, Sonnet 4.6, Sonnet 4.5) are hidden without a VPN. Selecting a Claude model returns a 400 error: "The requested model is not supported" (model_not_supported). These models appear and function only when a VPN is enabled.
