## About

EA's proprietary game engine powering Battlefield, FIFA, and other major titles

## Activity summary

Restricted for users in Syria. A community investigation in February 2026 found EA's site browseable from Syria, but all account functions are blocked: registration and email verification fail with a service-limitations error, sign-in is denied, and Syria is not among the supported countries. The team contacted the company in March 2026 as part of a coordinated request covering EA services. No response yet.

## Official timeline

- 2026-03-31 — Contacted Company. Official outreach email sent to Electronic Arts regarding Frostbite engine access restrictions in Syria, as part of a coordinated request covering all EA services.

## Community reports

- 2026-02-17 — Verified. Community investigation revealed Frostbite/EA website is partially functional from Syria. Game pages on ea.com (NHL 26, EA SPORTS FC 26) load fully and are browseable, with purchase options redirecting to third-party stores (Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Epic Games, Luna, Nintendo Switch 2). However, all account functionality is blocked: (1) Account creation fails with "Your request cannot be completed. Service limitations apply" after accepting terms. (2) Email verification during signup is also blocked with the same error. (3) Steam login returns error 500 with ACCESS_DENIED (error_code=100153). (4) Syria is not listed in the supported countries for registration. Status changed from blocked to restricted — the website is usable for browsing content but account creation and authentication are blocked for Syrian users. ## Context

These are geo-restrictions the companies applied themselves, not filtering by Syrian ISPs and not a legal requirement. US and EU sanctions on Syria were lifted in 2025. See https://unblocksyria.com/llms.txt for the regulatory summary and https://unblocksyria.com/en/about for citations to the specific orders and regulations.
